EDUCATION
Dr. Ellis received his undergraduate degree from the University
of Notre Dame and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh,
where he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine
and a fellowship in hematology. Dr. Ellis is board-certified in
internal medicine.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Dr. Ellis is professor of medicine at the University of
Pittsburgh School of Medicine and has been an active participant
in the teaching program for more than 30 years.
In addition, Dr. Ellis is the author or co-author of more than
40 scientific medical articles and book chapters. He is past
president of the Allegheny County Medical Society, the
Medical Alumni Association of the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine, and the medical staff of UPMC
Presbyterian. He is a member of the National Board of
Trustees of the Leukemia Society of America and has served
as the national president. The University of Pittsburgh
established an endowed chair in hematology and oncology in
honor of Dr. Ellis in 2000. |
